Abbey bank charges response letter

Dam it had typed this up before but obviously pressed the wrong button, here goes.....
Received this morning, Im not sure if they are being clever hoping I will quit or if I am reading it wrong.
I would like to advise you that under a Data rotection request, you will only receive the transactions that are currently held on our systems. these will be forwarded to you within 40 days days, free of charge, under seperate cover. Any earlier transactions have been archived onto microfiche, which is not covered ny the Data protection Act. These archived transactions will not therefore be supplied to you under a Data Protection Act request and will not be subject to the 40 day ruling.
We can however supply details of the transactions held on microfiche on payment of an administration fee of £10 for multiple monthly statements per account that have been archived.
It is clear from your request that you require the transactional information that is held on the microfiche records. In order to avoid any additional delays, we will therefore use the £10 that you have sent with your data protection Act request as payment for the microfiche records that you need.
You have also asked for details of any 'manual interventions' that may have been amde on your account and I am sorry that we are unable to help with this request.
I can ecplian that we consider 'manual intervention' to mean an action that is not automatic or computer-driven. not all manual interventions are recorded, for example if a member of staff looks at a paper document relating to your account, a record is not always required. Similarly some interventions may relate to work carried out by a department rather than individuals where no central record of activity is kept because this is not the kind of information we need. or more importantly, that a customer would usually request.
I also note that the address on your letter differs from that registered on your account. For your own security, we are only able to send this information to the registered address, therefore I have enclosed a change of contact details form for you to complete and return to us with proof of ID. We will not be able to supply copy statements until this has been returned to us.
Now this may be good news that they are working on but my back is up due to the fact on the 30th june I went into my branch and changed my address details which took 20mins to do as the account is now with HO on a DMP, so they had all my details correctly. I have since spoken to them this morning and they have this on record but for some reason which they just kept saying it was a different department that they couldn't put me through too.
So even though she has said it will be updated and the info can be sent out I will be sending another recorded letter to confirm this complete with her details so there is no delay, but just wanted to know if this is their standard response and that I will receive all the info I need or do I need to be putting anything else in the letter?
Regardless of where the info is kept, surely the DPA covers it all doesn't it? after all it is still my info? One min the letter looks like they are playing hardball but becuase they have my £10 they will do it but not within the 40 days, again is this something they can do or can I remind them that my dad is bigger than theirs or legal words to that effect?

At least they have replied. I am still waiting for an acknowledgement of my request, from Black Horse, which I sent on 26th June.
It does seem, however, that they are being b****y minded. surely they can check your change of address through their records.
Is it that they are afraid that their handling of your account will be shown to be less than fair.
Perhaps you could tell them that you intend to refer their letter to the financial ombudsman, or at least back to OFT.
Best of luck.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

as lynz power has said, microfiche IS covered by the data protection act (its YOUR information so it is protected).....go to consumer action group like she says as they have the appropriate letters for you. I am an Abbey customer and i'm prepared for this, i'm only at the first stage!
