it's a fantasy for them to look at girls like that, i think if one of those girls were to start up a conversation let alone go out with them, they would run a mile! i guess they could say the same about us, staring at brad pitt and gerard butler with their tops off! but in reality, i've a lot of male friends and they always say they prefer girls with a more rounded look than a bag of bones - it shows that the girls don't deny themselves and enjoy themselves :cool:Seems I'm meeting the wrong men! The ones I have known leer at mags with skinny big busted girls (not women, they look more like girls!) and defo prefer a size 6 to a size 16 if their conversations with each other are anything to go by.
So glad I never had the misfortune to go out with anyone like that! I hope there are men with a reality check out there.
i'm now a size 12 (previously a size 6) and if anyone told me to lose weight i'd tell them where to shove it! I tone up for me and me only, and people that have seen me at the 2 extremes have said that girls do look better with something cuddly on their bones!
rant over hehe x0 -
I've decided to purchase a pair of the £15 ones (£18.99 with postage) that roshydoshy linked from SportsDirect. I hope they fit (they only had a 5.5 and I normally wear a 6) I'll keep people posted. I intend to use them to wear for work. I do around an hour of walking (half hour each way) to and from work. I guess the only way to tell is if I get achey legs from it when donning the shoes.
One thing I will say though is that walking in a variety of different types of shoes (heels, flats etc.) seems to help generally because it seems to change which muscles are being used.

I think you'd be hard pushed to find a man who would choose a size 6 over a size 10 or 12 though. While they might go for the glamour model look, they rarely go for the traditional super skinny catwalk/fashion models.0 -

Yes, I think that the reason some men go for the 'skinny with big boobs' look is (aside from the fact that it's promoted as 'sexy' by the lads' mags) that it's pretty rare - breasts are made up of fat just like other bits, such as bums and thighs - so generally skinny women will have small breasts and vice versa. It's rare for a woman to be slim and have comparatively large breasts therefore it's seen as desirable - of course nowadays it is achieved mainly by surgery.
In my experience many men prefer women who have a healthy attitude towards their body and who don't obsess over their weight or over food, regardless of what the scales say.0 -
Question for those that have bought the £15 ones....how do sizes run...I've heard to go up 1/2 size?0
-
i vary in sizes from 5 - 6, (so say i'm 5.5, if you shop in next 5.5 is my perfecto size) i bought a 6 to be on the safe side as i do in most shoes/trainers that i cant try on and they are roomy (tad too big) but nothing more than usual?Question for those that have bought the £15 ones....how do sizes run...I've heard to go up 1/2 size?0 -
Okay....I'm normally a six so I will try a 6.5. If anything I can always get thicker socks. Hopefully they'll be okay widthwise - my feet have widened a bit over the past few years....ack! Hopefully that extra .5 will make them fit like they should!

Quite funny this, I read on here about the Spring Boost and went off to my local Sports Direct. Took me about 15 mins to find them as they are tucked away in a far corner of the sale section. Looked at sizes available and thought I was in trouble because they did not have a 5, tried on a 5.5 and they are perfect. Must say they have a lovely instep to them, I have a high arch and find it difficult to get trainers to fit right, but these do!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

My Spring Boost trainers arrived from Sports Direct just now. I got the black ones in size 5.5 (I normally wear size 6 shoes but I always figured I was actually a 5.5). They fit well and look really nice.
They come with 2 spare insoles, so in total have 3 insoles that supposedly give 3 levels of workout, but they all look pretty much the same to me, so the proof on that will be in the wearing.
The only thing I noticed when first putting them on is the high arch support, which I'm not used to.
I also got a Sports Direct mug (says £6.99 on it but who would actually pay for a promotional mug?) included in the package for free. It's a big mug! so handy for people who like a lot of tea/coffee
All in all so far it looks like a really good deal for a nice pair of trainers with two spare insoles.
I'll wear them to the shops later and report back on whether they seem to do what it says on the "tin".
Big thanks to RoshyDoshy, good find!0 -
thanks
muchos appreciated and i'm glad others are enjoying them too....
progress so far: i fitted into a pair of jeans today half a size smaller than i was previously - WAHOOO (says me tucking into a maple syrup pastry and slice of cake lol) and my mother said i looked like i was shaping up when I saw her, I know you can't expect miracles and nothing happens over night but it is encouraging when little things like this happen
