Do i need to inform OR before handing back house?

We are voluntarily surrendering our house soon'ish, and all secured debts were listed on our paperwork, so therefore do i have to pre-warn OR we are doing this, or do we just do it and give the RTLU contact details to our secured creditors?
Thanks again
Thanks again

hi pugs, in short no you dont have to tell the OR that you are surrendering the property as the option already exists as part of the original contract. so no new action is really taking place. Out of courtesy you should tell them when the repossession actually takes place, not least because they will need your new address to sent any letters to in the future.
as you will have seen from the stickys, be wary of what is in the Voluntary repossesion form as you do not want to readmit liability after the bankruptcy.Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Hi, if you hand back the keys to your house and are hoping to get a council property this may not be a wise thing to do. One of the questions the council ask are "Did you intentionally make yourself homeless?". If you hand back the keys this is in effect what you are doing and the council may not help rehouse you. Might be worth checking with Shelter on 0808 800 4444, a charity offering free advice on housing and homelessness.0
