You need to make sure the new account you use has NO credit facilities (overdraft, credit card, cheque guarantee etc although a debit card is fine) you want to ask for a BASIC account, if it's only a basic account your after the credit check they run is very basic, i.e you are who you say you are.

    Hi Wonder Girl,

I'm in the same situatiom as LittleL, have CCCs app. in Aug and need to open a basic acc. I suppose I have to let my employer know about transferring my money to a new acc when I'm paid next time (end of Aug as I've been paid this month already). Am I right?
I have a few DD (mobile, land line, broadband, loan) and I should do the same with them as well?
    Thanks for your answer,

    taj.

That's right, you need to make sure all your incomings are paid into the new account and all your DD's are paid from it too, if you have any cash in an account with a bank you owe money to they are allowed to just take it. so you need to get this sorted before they find out your getting a DMP :)

Thank you. The problem is I'm always in RED by the end of each month ( I wish I had some cash :o:cry: ).

I'm planning BT to another cc to reduce interest and do SBT as well with Egg Money (haven't applied just yet). Is it a good idea prior to CCCS app ?

Sorry, one more question. Should I ask (again) for cancelling PPI for a loan I have with Lloydstsb before CCCS? I asked the cc company a few weeks ago but was refused. Apparently it cannot be cancelled  . The loan is taking too much of my money.

Hopefully when I get a DMP everything will change.

    Not a problem, don’t we all ;)

DO NOT transfer balances if you want a DMP, the new creditors will be annoyed, and if you leave things where they are chances are most of your creditors will stop charges and interest anyway.

PPI becomes null and void once you start a DMP, they will NEVER pay out on it, so get it cancelled ASAP. It CAN be cancelled.

    You are a star WG :A ,

OK, no BT or SBT then.
I'll go to the bank and ask them to cancel it. What should I do/say if they say no? It worries me. You are right, they WILL NEVER pay out on it. (Previous and not long ago experience).

Plus one more question  ,

CAN I CLAIM PPI back (I started paying a loan last Nov - 9 payments so far)? I honestly would like to know what to say, it makes me feel more powerful in a way and more in control of my situation.

    Thank you very much,

    Taj.

Thanks WG, I'm just back in and I popped into the abbey (before I saw your post).

The guy said that coz I have a business account it will probably be ok at setting up a personal account but yes, they automatically do a credit search. My heart sank until I came on here again.

So it's a basic account that I need to open then. Right, I'll need to get this sorted as soon as. Wonder how long it takes. What if the d/d's are due to come off before the account is up and running?
