anyone know if you can get a default removed from your credit file i have paid it and it says satisfied it was given about 2 years ago and is affecting me getting a mortgage??

if its paid and satisfied write to the three credit agencys and infom them, enclose any evidence of satisfied docs you have.

Normally it stays on for 6 years. In the case of a satisfied default, the credit agencies don't have the discretion to remove it UNLESS authorised by the relevant creditor. I had one many years ago from the old National Provincial and they refused to have it taken off after I paid it even though the sum involved was relatively small and was the object of a genuine dispute with the lender.0
