I thought this only applied if you were married or civil partnership. If simply joint ownership then it does form part of the estate.

My OH's husband died three years ago, we still get letters from time to time so we just send them back with a cover letter stating that he is dead and should they wish to contact him they can discuss the matter with him at the cemetary, address as supplied. We like to tell them that he is always in.0
