Employment after years

Hello to everyone
My partner and i have been looking after and both caring for my severley autistic son for a long time as i had been not able to cope alone with my son and we are on benefits. Now he is older and i feel that i can cope with him and partner can now look for work again and we can come off benefits , but how do you start when you have been home caring for someone for such a long time? he has labouring experience but has not worked in years because of the caring side, i know it will take time to get a job after this but we are both very nervous any tips please on how we can start? thank you so much:)

Look into voluntary work, citizens advice is a great place to do that because there are so many transferable skills from it and you may find that you want to pursue it more deeply.
