What would you make of this letter ... ?

I have a VERY old account with Aktiv Kapital of which the balance is £429. They sent me a letter saying I could pay 50% in full and final settlement if I wanted to. I sent an email asking if they would promptly mark the credit ref files as satisfied, if I took up this offer. They replied saying thanks for agreeing and the arrangement is now in place !!!!
I replied saying I never agreed, I was just asking a question, and they then sent me an email confirming no arrangement was inplace. This was a week or two ago but this morning I got a letter from them, the first paragraph saying ...
"We were pleased to discuss your account with you recently. We agreed you would pay £0.00 to settle your account with us in full - thank you"
Would you take that as them saying there is no arrangement in place or does that sound like they are settling my account free of charge? Surely a clerical error ?
What would any of you make of it ... ?

Clerical error....:rotfl:
Don't EVER agree to a f&f unless you have it in writing from them that the debt is marked satisfied in full and that neither they or any other 3rd parties will pursue it again.
They are VERY sneaky....:mad:Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -
How old is the account and when was the last time you paid anything toward it? Have you checked the unenforceability thread to see whether the debt is enforcable or not?Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55
