Hi there just an update....phoned the court today, spoke to a lovely lady regarding our bankruptcy on 24th about whether its still going ahead. She was unable to tell me if the planned strike is def going ahead but if it does we have to have a new date! I explained that the court fees go up on April 6th but there was nothing she could do until I speak to her tuesday. Totally gutted and just praying the srike does not go ahead.

Really frustrated by all this. I'm also due to go to court on the 24th but have no idea whether I'll be seen or not. Having had to lie to get time off work to go in the first place (something I hate having to do), it's going to be very awkward if I then have to say I need more time off.
Even more annoyingly the chances are I then won't be able to get another appointment before the cost of BR goes up on the 6th April. Just seems really unfair. Surely there ought to be grounds for paying the current fee (as it would have been on the original court date) due to the delay being 'through no fault of my own... blah, blah'?!0 -
Hi Confuzzled,
I totally understand how you feel. When I rang the court yesterday I asked the clerk that if the strike were to go ahead would we be able to take our petition papers and fees down BEFORE April 6th so we wouldn't incur the outrageous £180 extra, she said that its not allowed- apparently you pay on the day you petition!!!!! I told her that I thought it was really unfair and that none of this is our fault but she couldn't help us and just said to ring on Tues to find out what was happening on the 24th...so so frustrating!!!!:mad:0 -
You should definitely argue that, put in a formal complaint if neccesary. You should not be financially disadvantage because they decided to go on strike so long as your original appointment was prior to the new charges coming in.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
