Wescot/Sky debt

Hello. I owe Sky £250. I hae a letter today from Wescot for this debt.
can I get back onto Sky to pay it off weekly or do I have to pay Westcot?

Have Westcot bought the debt from Sky?
Or do I pay them and they pass the money onto Sky?

Thanks for any help

Hi Jonty it can vary but I think SKY will have sold it.
Do they refer to SKY as 'our client' in your letter?

    Hello tixy!
The letter says "We have been instructed by our client to collect the balance on their behalf"

Sounds like it might not have been then Jonty.

Could be worth a call to sky to see if you can set up a standing order to repay them if your prefer.

  • Hi

How can you tell if the debt has been sold to the DCA or if they are acting on behalf of the creditor (Apart from asking ;))

if they followed protocol, you should be sent a letter telling you which debt has been sold on, why and who it has been sold to. This should come from sky, and probably an acknowledgement letter from the new debt owner to.

If they are still referring to the original creditor as 'our client' then it hasn't been sold on yet.

If there's no mention of the original creditor then it might have been.

I hate ringing Sky. One of the reasons I left was because they keep you waiting for ages. They cut you off if they can't be bothered to sort problems out.

    Email is no better

I'll write to them and offer them a weekly payment.

    Thanks for the help :)
