  • Anyone know the answers to below?

    1. Any legal time spans that they call call you from? Most seem to start around 8am and go till 10pm.

    2. Are they allowed to call me on 'non bank working days' such as Saturday, Sunday or public / bank holidays?

    3. How many times a day are they allowed to call?

    4. I've sent letters to the lenders stating that I ONLY want them to contact me via writing and for them to stop calling me. How long should I give them before reporting them? and who do I report them too?

    Cheers.
  • Anybody wonder why the banks change their numbers so often? Nearly every letter I get from them has a different number on it for me to call.

    Hi mixedupdebt
    Here are a few templates for telephone calls harrasment. As for other queries some one who has far more knowledge than me will be along shortly.
    13.1 - Harassment by Telephone - Template to send if you're getting lots of phone calls;
    13.4 - Legal Threat - Harassment by Telephone - Threat of legal action unless the phone calls stop;
    13.5 -
    Harassment by Telephone - Follow Up - Template issuing s.10 & phone number removal.
    Hope that helps DL.

    Found this in answer to your question
    The Office of Fair Trading guidelines on debt collection state that a creditor cannot use phone calls to contact you “at unreasonable times and at unreasonable intervals”. If they do, you can make a complaint.
    Many people believe there are some laws or guidelines stating that a creditor can only make a certain amount of calls each day. Unfortunately, no such guidelines exist, so a complaint should be based on what you believe is “unreasonable”.

    Guidelines state 8am - 9pm Mon-Fri, weekends until 4pm.

    2. Are they allowed to call me on 'non bank working days' such as Saturday, Sunday or public / bank holidays?

    Yes.

    3. How many times a day are they allowed to call?

    Again with the guidelines, as long as it's not enough to be deemed harrassing it's fine.

    4. I've sent letters to the lenders stating that I ONLY want them to contact me via writing and for them to stop calling me. How long should I give them before reporting them? and who do I report them too?

    Don't know if there is a set time scale, but if you need to you might contact the Office of Fair Trading as they created the debt collection guidelines.
  • cheers guys,
