Soda stream - cordials/flavours?

Does anyone use a soda stream? Can you recommend a widely available cordial or flavouring as the soda stream ones seem to be online order only. One that actually tastes nice please? Im thinking things like lime juice cordial etc.

I just buy normal cordial from the supermarket and use that, it's loads cheaper. I make some fizzy water with the sodastream, put a bit of cordial in a glass and add the fizzy water to that.

Roses Lime juice Cordial is nice and the supermarket own brand "high-juice" cordials are nice too. Any cordial or juice that needs diluting with water will work even the value stuff.

Any cordial that you enjoy the taste of will be fine. The only difference is that your drink will be fizzy rather than still.

I have a soda stream and use lime cordial, ribena and orange squash or juice, as well as drinking it plain and fizzy. I have tried the soda stream brand but I think they are just expensive and a marketing ploy to generate extra income for the company. There is nothing special about them, in my view. If you want to try them though you can get them from Lakeland, either in store or by mail order (there are often free Lakeland delivery codes around at certain times of year).
  • Thank you both. I tend to buy the High Juice cordials anyway, from M&S or Sainsbury's and I always have lime juice cordial in too so it looks like Im stocked up. The kids like blackcurrant and orange (separately). This way I get to control what goes in it and how weak I make it.

    PS
where do you get your gas from?

Rocks squash they sell in Tesco, sainsburys and waitrose-its organic, just sugar &fruit, no sweeteners (I cannot stand them) and very tasty=you should keep in fridge after opening as no preservatives, they say use within 2 weeks, but I don't think I get through that quickly.
The bottlegreen cordials are in the same places too-they do a very nice elderflower, and I once got an apple one which was really good. The ginger and lemongrass is spicy and very grown up-great instead of an alcoholic drink. These are REALLY concentrated-and although expensive you only use about 1 part to 10 or 11 parts water.
    So good :)
  • Just waiting for the SS to be delivered now! Kids are sooo excited!

When I was a child my dad had a soda syphon and used to buy those sparklets bulbs from Boots around Christmas time for the party season. When it was in use I used to make my own fizzy orange, and I learnt how to do it myself eventually. I quite enjoyed the rumble of the gas going into the metal syphon. Later on, dad bought a sparklets beer tap for his party 7s (remember this was the 60s!) and I used to play at being barmaid! I obviously get my love of gadgetry from my dad bless him. The soda syphon is still in use 40+ years later. I always wanted to squirt someone with it like on TV but was never allowed!
  • "Soda Stream.....get busy with the fizzy!" hehe
  • We had one and as a child I would love adding the fizz, Ours was brown and the button on top was square, loved pushing the button till it was fizzy, and the special glass bottles with the sprials going up them.
What days. Stopped using them cos the refills got harder to find and very expensive and they stopped alot of the flavours.

Where is the best price for actual soda stream concentrates?

I keep googling and not finding an awful lot.

The machine has arrived and we are very chuffed with it. The tesco offer included a free pack of 12 trial size flavours. We have already tried the lemon and lime and the apple and like them both. The kids also enjoyed black currant cordial we already had with fizzy water.

I have realised though that its probably not any cheaper, just a novelty thing, and it means we dont have to collect huge bags of 2 litre bottles for recycling.

I wonder how long the cylinder will last? They arent particularly cheap either.

This is the one I bought:

I think its a good price compared to a lot of others.
