Usually in the silver savers forum but there's no one place. Here is probably just as good.0

I'm looking for advice on wills and inheritance tax planning. My partner and myself are unmarried, and she's very worried about what might happen if she or I die, and how much tax the surviving partner would have to pay. Is it still the case that being married is the only solution to these problems?0

being married makes it ewasier due to the inter-spousal exemption. But what assets do you have and are they jointly owned?
You could always set up a nil rate band will trust to help.0 -
One thing to remember is that your partner will, if you don't make a will, be entitled to nothing that is not already hers or jointly owned. And vice versa.
Whether IHT will be a bother (greater allowances if married) depends on your total assets. If they are below the threshold (but if yes will they always be?) then that's one less worry.0
