Window companies -Glasgow?

Hi
We're looking at getting new windows in our semi and were wondering if anyone has any recommendations/ ones to avoid etc.

We've had one company out so far, quote wasn't quite what we had in mind but I am being abit fussy with how windows open/different colours inside and out.

Any info would be great, thanks.

Hi there we used Dalmation windows, and would strongly advise you to steer well clear of them, they fitted a non sealed unit, a big scratched piece of glass beside the doo, it was a fight to get it replaced and there aftersales was non existant, once they have your money they arent interested. Awful company to deal with. Maybe just bad luck but i wouldnt think so.
  • I have used Southside windows in the past on a couple of occasions, they have been first class, not the cheapest, but somewhere in the middle pricewise. I have recommended them to friends and family and all have been very pleased with the service and the products. This was after a very bad experience with crsmith about 18 years ago, although they may have sharpened up their act since then, I think all the fitters that did my job were sacked!

Never think you're being fussy. You are paying for it. You should get what you want. These people are providing a service for you.

Also - my friend had some new windows this year and by the time he'd haggled the price down, the windows were about 10 thousand pounds cheaper than they started off.....If you don't like the price, then I advise you to beat them down.

Sorry I don't know the name of his company, but my windows were put in by Radbury of Ayr (I live in Glasgow) and they are not the cheapest, but you get a great service and fantastic windows.

Try Scotia. I used them last time we got our windows and doors done. Excellent service and you don't get all that salesman crap starting off with high prices and "phoning the boss" to see if he can lower it. The price you get is the proper price from the outset, they'll show you the price list to prove it. They come in, measure the windows and give you the prices - none of the antics of some of the others who you can't get to leave.

Honestly, I can't recommend them highly enough. My brother, mother and a couple of work colleagues have also used them and praised them highly.

Hi, just to confer with c_smith, scotia did my doors, guttering and soffits 11 years ago now and its still a good job. I had them back about 3 years ago to fit three more windows, that was a good job too, and priced well. Will probably have the final four windows done this year or next and won't hesitate to call them again.
It doesn't hurt to be optimistic....you can always cry later.

agree with the recommendation for Scotia. Not used them personally but mum and dad have a couple of times and each time they have been well pleased with the products, the price and the service. I'll be looking at getting a new door soon and they will be my first port of call!
