Good luck! Hope that it all goes well for you!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
3 years ago I changed from from a contracting job to a full time employee. I take home about half what I did before. It still smarts but I'm very happy with the company and the role is good, also more security/stability and time at home (rather than travelling where ever to work)0

This is an interesting thread and has given me some hope. I am looking at quitting my job (earning 23k a year) and want to make a career change and would earn about 12k a year. I am willing to do it just so I am happier

I'd love to be able to afford to do it. Don't get me wrong I like my job but I would love to work with animals in some capacity!
Maybe one day!

I agree, great thread, I have just come back from Malaysia helping orphans and tribal people.
Ever since then i`m looking to get out of my IT role as I am not happy in my role. I too am probably take a pay cut, but i don`t care, money is certainly not everything. I`m currently doing some youth work on a Friday night with my Church, don`t know what i`m going to do career wise though.0 -
I did this a couple of years ago, after being made redundant. I worked in IT Technical Support and moved to a school as an ICT Technician (in school-speak technician means 'dogsbody')
I walk 10 mins to work instead of 90 mins drive or bus/train, have much less stress and much more job satisfaction. The icing on the cake was I was promoted to Manager and taking the new salary, pension and lack of travel costs into account I am better off than before.0
