I find Lloyds tsb very good on each of the above. They also pay 4% interest, £50 when you set up the account and you have the option of putting up to £250 per month into an online saver paying 8%. Both accounts can be managed by accessing the current account online.

I have found both HSBC and smile to be good for all of the above, both allow you to pay anyone and anything, security seems good (most security problems are more at the users end than the banks end), they are both fairly quick with email responses and transfers are the usual immediate within bank, and about 3 days outside it.

Most of them seem to be much of a muchness I find, though Lloyds and NatWest both annoy me as they don't let you tell them about a change of address online. I can put in enough security details to tranfer all my money to Nigeria, but I can't let them know I've moved

Cause of this, Lloyds still have my husband living at the house-before-last, and Natwest lost me entirely. I guess this is only relevant if you move house as much as I do (at least once a year, and often twice - I am hoping this will stop now though!) so it depends if it matters to you. I like to do everything online - if only they could add a slot to my computer I could pay in the christmas and birthday cheques!

I use HSBC, have nothing to compaltre it to but really happy with web service. Paying bills is really easy and especially good for setting them to be paid on a set date. Also if you have more than one account with them all your balances come up at the same time, making it really easy. Know your with HSBC saverram so you know all this already but thought it may be of use for some one else!!

I agree with Floss - I find Natwest the best
    1. Bill payments - they have long lists of the service providers so its very quick and easy to find the company that you need to pay
    2. standing orders - dont use them but the direct debits are very easy to set up (and Cancel!!)
3 security - very good - havent had a problem and they notify you if there has been a spate of bogus emails
    4. online help - very good and helpful
5 answer to your emails- very quick and very helpful
    6. Transfer time of u r money to same Bank or different bank - natwest is instant and other banks 3 days
  • I have both a Natwest account and a Lloyds TSB

I think the Lloyds TSB one is much better. I also have a savings account with Halifax with online access and that seems ok.

For me though Lloyds wins hands down
