Keeping last year's tree alive

Hello all,

Looking for some advice on keeping last year's mini Christmas tree going til this Christmas. It's about a foot high excluding the pot height. We kept it in the little pot it was given to us in but this month it's been going a bit brown and shedding needles everywhere.

My OH has just moved it to a bigger pot with better drainage but is there anything else we can do? Would be a shame to have it die and then have to get another one.

Thanks!

RB

  • It may have got too dry indoors. You could try potting it on.

Was it one of those with the white spray all over them? They never seem to last because of the spray.

No, it didn't have any white spray. Just a little tree in a pot inside a bag.

We put it in a bigger pot today so will see what happens!

If it's dropping lots of needles then I'm afraid it's a goner. Even if it does live it won't replace these needles - the only place new needles appear is at the growing tips at the end of the branches.
  • Ah, bummer.

Looks like we will be getting a new one come December then...

    Thanks anyway!
