DMP question

I know theres someone who frequents these boards who works for either cccs or payplan, so I'm hoping they read this!!!

Both my mom and her neighbour have a DMP through a company called Gregory Pennington, and I have just checked out ther website and found that they are paying a monthly fee of 15% to GP to manage the DMP for them:eek:

Can they swap to a free DMP with cccs or payplan, or do they have to keep going with GP, because I have just worked out that my mom is paying GP £48 per month, thats £576 a year:eek: , which could knock several years off their DMP.........I don't know why they didnt look around, my mom went with them because her neighbour found them helpful (but then if I was ripping off people who were skint and had got themselves in financial trouble, I would be extra nice to them too!!)

I am so angry at my mom, I have told her about the cccs and payplan last week, and she says she'll look into it, but the woman needs a rocket up her bum, I just rang her again to tell her how much GP are charging (she had absolutely no idea!!) she said shes had a boring day at work, and can't think about it at the moment..........grrrrr...........she'll look into it on Monday.....bloomin woman!!

There is no problem with your mum leaving GP although she will not get her original 1st month payment back she paid as a fee to them. She just needs to call Payplan or CCCS and they will set her up in a DMP with no fees. If she needs pursuading try wokring out how much quicker she would be debt free if she did not have to pay the 15% and work out the total payment to GP over that period that might do the trick. I have heard from other DFW here that CCCS has a bit of a wait before you get an appointmet so maybe try Payplan.

    I am Someone ;)

STOP the DMP with them IMMEDIATELY!!!

They charge a rip off fee, are not very good at keeping track of debts or updating the clients and have no interest whatsoever in making people debt free as then they lose their money too!!

Please ask them both to call CCCS on 0800 138 1111 to make an appointment with one of our counsellors, the agreement they have with GP is voluntary and they can close the plan with them whenever they like, and I suggest you get that done ASAP.

  • Thanks for that, I will ask her for the figures, but I reckon it could knock at the least 2 years off the debt, shes paying quite a lot per month to get it paid off quickly, but they are taking a huge amount from her, I'll get her to nag the neighbour as well!!!

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

    Good luck :D

also just for reference companies like GP are not so keen on getting interest frozen as this would decrease their profits, so be prepared that some balances might not have decreased much or may have even increased from the balances at the start of the plan :(

also just for reference companies like GP are not so keen on getting interest frozen as this would decrease their profits, I had a horrible feeling this might be the case, from reading their website, it doesn't really mention getting interest frozen etc........what a bunch of bar stewards!!so be prepared that some balances might not have decreased much or may have even increased from the balances at the start of the plan :(I really hope this isn't the case, my mom had a nervous breakdown at the beginning of this year, and its only been the last couple of months that she has felt better, but then maybe she is trong enough to deal with it now...........

Thanks for all of your help, I will tell her to ring up immediately, ring GP and get balances etc, because I think you might be right about the balances, I had a horrid horrid feeling that might happen!! xx

Don't ring GP for balances, they will be wrong, you need to call each creditor directly.

If your mom isn't up to dealing with this she can call, go through the data protection checks and then pass the phone to you. Also with CCCS if she sends us a letter giving us authority to deal we can talk to you, this would include the initial appointment :D
