A neat little nectar points booster I've just discovered

I have just discovered, quite by accident, a great little tip to boost your nectar card points by buying things at shops that don't accept nectar. confused? don't be!

here is the story. I was in Sainsbury's doing my normal shopping when I saw the big stack of various giftcards they offer including things like Next and New Look. I decided to buy a £20 Next gift card for my dad's birthday. When I got to the checkout I asked the cashier if I could collect nectar points on the giftcard and she said I could. At the time, I also had a double nectar points voucher so earned 4 nectar points per pound.

So if you're going to be spending some cash in those stores anyway, then why not buy a giftcard from Sainsbury's and earn nectar points on your spend in-store as well!

You know the luncheon vouchers. Could you buy a gift card with those from sainsburys?

I know that doesn't have anything to do with what you said but I was wondering

I would never have thought of that, but it's a great idea. Thanks!
  • Sometimes they give double points and bonus points for gift cards. I have done this in the past. Anyone seen the 'Ask offer' on nectar site. Its a great offer.

I dont use the nectar card I have,so I have no idea if next and the other shops mentioned give nectar points? At a guess though if they do then chances are that you'll only get nectar points on the purchase of the voucher not however when you cash the voucher in. Just a thought :)

I think you've miss understood ....the poster is saying that you'll be able to gain the nectar points on the purchase of the gift card for the stores available, not nectar points at the store you are spending it at (unless its homebase)

I had a bonus voucher for a gift card around Christmas Time - I think it was 500 extra points for a £20 card, so I bought the card, got the points - then I spent the gift card on my shopping...!
