Help! I'm being chased by creditors post-bankruptcy

Hi
I was discharged from bankruptcy in Dec 2008 but I am still receiving letters from creditors saying I owe them money. Before I was discharged I used to forward the letters to the insolvency service and they would contact the creditors, but what to I do with the letters now I'm discharged? I think this is a creditor I haven't heard from since before I went bankrupt but I'm not sure, can't remember.
I heard that if I call the creditors to discuss the letter, I would be acknowledging the debt and therefore be liable to pay it and would have to wait another six years to get any credit/mortgage so I'd be better off ignoring the letters. Is that right? I'm hoping to buy a property with my partner when it is six years after I first went bankrupt is up so is this going to affect that?
Is anyone able to help/advise at all please?
Many thanks in advance.
