info needed

i had a ccj issued about 5-6 yrs ago and paid it off in full aprox 3 1/2 yrs ago how long does it stay on your "file" for and is it from when issued or from when paid off?

    Hi.
    It stays on your credit file for 6 years from date of the original judgement, paid or not. The file will now show it as "satisfied" but only if you repaid it officially through the court. If you just pay it off directly to the creditor without the registry knowing, then it will still show as unsatisfied. Experian, Equifax and other agencies can only show what they're officially told about. Unfortunately it doesn't make much difference to your credit rating. The damage is done by the original judgement.
