Getting out of contracts when in financial difficulty..

Hi everyone, Apologies if this is in the wrong place...there are just so many boards!
I am looking for advice as to whether there is any way I can get myself out of tings like gym memberships and subscriptions to things like Which, due to financial difficulty?
I had a bit of a manual search and couldn't see anything, so sorry if this has been asked before
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, not an expert on this by any means. But as its a legal contract they are not oblidged to let you out of any contract, when I lost my job last year, 02 wouldn't allow me to end a contract several months early as id signed into a legal agreement. Is theres no problems with services etc for which to justify a reason why you want to leave, as far as im aware theres nothing you would be able to do
Only other thing is speak to the supplier and see if there prepared to maybe put you on a lower priced deal or something. Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
Thanks NGlady... I guess all I can rely on is their good nature (haha) and hope for the best. Many thanks.0

When you speak to them, be nice and explain honestly - sometimes they will help, sometimes not. If they refuse to help, get their name and ask for details of the earliest date you can cancel the contract. Ask for it to be sent to you in writing.
Then, put it in your diary and make sure you do it!
good luck xSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I agree with the advice given above but one other thing - depending on which gym you are with some national chains will allow you to suspend/holiday from your gym membership, so they'll give you up to a year of no charge/no membership but then you resume after for however many months you still have left on the contract.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
