Public sector cuts are coming. You said the worst is over.I doubt those in the public sector think the same as you.

There will still be some bumps along the road but it seems that many of the potholes have been fixed.

Recently, I have been contacted about many job oppertunities requesting if I'd be interested in being considered for.

the jobs market in my experience and industry is definately picking up.

If you are a realist you would realise that the highest proportion of jobs have already been cut.

Public sector cuts are not likely to be an additional 3%.
So although bad for the public sector any cuts will be they are not going to be as high as what the private sector have cut already this recession. Thus being past the worst.

    Now thats being a realist.:)

Not really sure about that, the debt and the borrowing that have given the illusion of recovery are unsustainable and will end after the election, then with inevitable tax rises squeezing stagnant incomes, I believe the worst is yet to come, no pain, no gain.

As far as the unemployment figures are concerned, every man and his dog knows it's above 4 million and possibly nearer 5 million. The government by it's own hand of manipulation has rendered the unemploymant figures meaningless.

    Some bad news in it.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8571625.stm
But long-term unemployment, covering those out of work for more than a year, rose by 61,000 to 687,000.

So longterm is rising. Sounds least employable are really struggling and will be for a fair bit.

    I have to disagree here.

We are not past the election yet. Major shake ups after that.

To give a local example. Devonport don't know where they stand in terms of government contracts. The government has stated it will release information after the general election.

The local feeling is that the contracts will move elsewhere. Jobs are already dissapearing, but basically they are having to hang on for the announcement. The other port is in the same boat, not know whether they will get the contract.

It's all just sillyness, but as Devonport is a huge employer, labour are not going to take their big contracts from them just before the workers have their chance to put a tick in an election box.
