Come on guys?!0

Try Manchester Dogs' Home.
I would advise you to do some reading up before you get a puppy if you have never had a dog before. They are a long-term investment! I've had my two dogs for 10 years and will hopefully have at least another five with them.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

For pedigrees there's always champdogs0 -
Don't use dogs4us in Agecroft, its just a puppy supermarket using animals from puppy farms.
There is Leigh Animal Sanctuary, had good experiences with them.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

Well said.
Please, please, please OP, don't use anywhere that sells lots of puppies - they will be 'farmed' which means that they won't have been health checked or had any genetic testing for doggy diseases, won't have been socialised and their mums will just be impregnated time after time until they are exhausted from having litters. See this article for more info http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/feb/03/puppy-farms-battery-dogs
I would also recommend a magazine called 'Dogs Today' which has information in the back about what to look for when choosing a puppy. (I'm not involved in any way with this magazine, I have just found it tremendously helpful).
Good luck with finding a puppy. You will be getting a new family member to love! Treat him or her with kindness and you will have your best friend ever!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Im sorry, but Leigh does NOT have a good reputation - have a google. neither is it a charity - but a money making limited company, investigated by the Sunday Times with horrifying results.

"Ostensibly the sanctuary, which has been open since 1975 to rehome unwanted animals, is offering succour to dogs found wandering the streets by council dog wardens or brought in by owners who no longer feel able to look after their pets.
But the reality behind the facade is that, according to the testimony of former staff members, about half of all the dogs entering will be killed, often within days or even hours".

Why do you want a puppy right now? What sort do you want - what are your circumstances, do you work, can you afford all the costs involved - dont rush into things just because the sun is shining a bit. You would be amazed the increase in phone calls Ive had for the rescue this week. People wanting a dog or puppy NOW. One has to wonder where the dog may end up when the winter comes with some of these callers.0 -

Not really the same at all Batchy, if you've seen any of the footage of the conditions the dogs are kept in, or the poor health the puppies suffer from later on.
Yes, of course all dogs need loving homes. But it's about supply-and-demand. If you buy the pups from these institutions, they'll keep breeding them and the problem never goes away.
Stick with the rescue homes - at least you have some idea what you're getting both health and temperament-wise. They're spayed/neutered and vaccinated ready for you, so it's cheaper too. Plus, what you pay for the dog goes towards rescuing another one.
And remember, mongrels usually live longer and have less health issues.0
