Looks a great little piece of kit - Sumvision Card Reader MP3 Player with LCD display.
For those of you that have the like of the Pure Bug DAB and record from the radio onto an SD card, you can simply rename the file from .mp2 to .mp3, stick it in the card reader and it plays - no conversion needed!

In fact, have just found it slightly cheaper and it looks like it's the same model

Not sure if that does .mp2 format though? That's the big attraction for me as it's a pain having to convert the file from it's original format into mp3 so that it will play. Record from radio, rename file, play. Simple as that.
From the user reviews on the ebuyer site, it looks to be worth a go.0 -

Hi,
I got this same mp3 player from svp.co.uk for £13.62 delivered.
It's a cracking piece of kit for the money - full id3 tag display, masses of storage now that 1GB SD cards are cheap and the sound quality is superb. It support MP3 and WMA formats (CBR and VBR). If nothing else, the user manual needs to be read - it's probably the funniest piece of writing ever too be badly translated into English.
The build quality is pretty good (but the battery case is a bit flimsy) and it's really small.
I got this and a 1GB card for a total price of about 24 quid.
For the money, it's great,

Even better. Have you tried the .mp2 trick by any chance? Just doubly confirming it works with the SVP one

hmm.
i'm dubious to this one
MP2 is basically a compressed data stream used for DAB, but stored on a disc (or card)
MP3 is a different beastie altogether, it's pretty much an MP2, but with huge extra processing done
Mp2 is audio as used in VCD's and other mpeg 1 systems
Mp3 is audio as used in DVD's (kind of, not strictly true though)
Mp3 is a more modern codec
Now, if those decoder chips used in the mp3 players had the extra few bits of code needed to play nativley Mp2 files, BUT, the software designers overlooked the mp2 file extension, the trick of renaming may work
in practice though most cheap MP3 players don't bother with file extensions, then simply 'see' everything then read the headers of the file to see if that type matches what it can play
hope that makes sense, in summary, i don't think it will workmoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Makes sense yes thanks. From the reviews on the Ebuyer link I posted above, a good number of people saying it works a treat.0

Hi,
Sorry - Can't confirm whether the mp2 trick works, don't have a DAB radio that supports SD cards - If I get chance to play around today, I'll see if I can test it out by ripping something to mp2 format (if this is possible - not even sure it is !)

Scan did these last week on their todayonly page for £3.99 + VAT.
Scan have rubbish postage charges, but if you can find a few people who want one then they should work out at under £6 each delivered (I bought a bunch and they worked out at £5.60 each).
They normally repeat their deals quite regularly with slightly different prices, so if you can wait a few days this would be very cheap.0 -
And I just chucked a few mp2 files on one of these, and they play just fine (as long as they're renamed to .mp3).0

I got one from Scan a few months ago, my first MP3 payer. Well impressed, especially with the sound quality, battery life and navigation. The reviews on ebuyer are useful as some folks have done alternative user instructions as the ones it comes with are rubbish.
I paid £8 odd but no postage as I'm local
but the a couple of weeks later they dropped the price to £5 odd and now £4 odd  A bargain for the price and an ideal iPod replacement to take away on holiday. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!
