Bankruptcy question

On the form I have printed of to see what information they want it asks if you have been bankrupt before. Is there a time scale in which this applies.
I was bankrupt nearly 30 years ago after having my psv licence removed overnight on medical grounds. I had declared a illness I had when a 3yo on the forms and no one had picked it up till months after I had started bus driving. This caused me to loose my job instantly. Could not get another job at the time and ended handing the keys back on the house we where buying. We came out of it with a few thousand pounds after paying off the debts.
Wondered if we do go down the bankruptcy route we have to declare this on the form being it was so long ago.

    Hi belleyetere,

I would still put it down. I was in a similar situation, I recently declared BR but had been BR before back in 1985. I listed it on my SOA and the OR did ask me about it. It will have no implications for your new BR but the OR will want to find out if your new BR is for the same reasons as before to ensure you have not repeated the same mistake again i.e running up debts then going BR.

I think that if the previous BR is more than 15 years ago it will have no bearing on your new BR.

I hope that helps, general rule of thumb is just be honest.

    Good luck.
