Hi guys
I got a letter from HMRC dated 7th january 2010 (received today on 16th march 2010, yes, I wondered too)
Basically, it was a Tax Coding Notice
It said your code for JOBSEEKERS ALLOWANCE with be BR
I am not on Jobseekers allowance, and have been back in Full time employment since September 2009. Please can somebody advise me on what to do?
I have tried ringing the number on the letter but it is simply automated answers.
Cheers
Indie

Contact the HMRC office that deals with you. This can be found here
Am having endless problems with HMRC sending wrong coding notices to my father.0 -
There is a new tax computer system in place..... !!!!
It has been transferring old records of years gone by over along with current ones. Then sending out wrong codes for the new tax year saying people have 2 jobs etc !!!!
Nightmare...at least half of Britain must be getting whacked with this. You have to phone up wait about 30 mins to finally speak to someone...who then either send a form to confirm when you last changed employment etc which you sign date and return.... OR they just send the new correct tax code straight away without having to do it.
Either way YOU have to phone though.....Hope this helps.0 -
This demonstrates how wacky the new computer system is - tax is not deducted at source from JSA, so code BR could NEVER be operated against this source of income. I would ignore it as its nonsense.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Yes, had this problem with OH. They sent her a form saying she had two jobs and which one was main job etc. And she was rather confused.
