Greedy Greedy Bank - OUCH OUCH OUCH

To pay my monthly bank credit card I set up a an automatic payment with that same bank to take money out of my account. Unfortunately due to the real high level of mental stress and my mind on hundreds of things at once that I am undergoing, I did not remember other payment for the same amount. It went through within a few days making my account overdrawn - I do not have arranged borrowing and if it did it would not have helped going several pounds over. Anyways did not realise until I got a letter saying I would be incurring charges.
Quickly called explaining the situation. The money from the second credit card payment was returned to my account but I now will incur £35 because of this stupid blip on my brain. Have spanked my hands several times because I try to avoid charges at all cost especially at this time when every penny counts. Did try calling and writing to my bank telling them of my clean record but they refuse to budge - they say its not their fault and have quoted me verse regarding their T&C. They are obviously happily rubbing their greedy mitts in glee at my inane move.

I tend to either have a small overdraft open for this reason, or keep a few £100's in buffer for unexpected costs that might cause this type of thing to happen. So far i've not had any bank charges (that are my fault anyway).
They are not your accountant so they earn money by charges, since we have free banking unlike many other places those that incur charges subsidise the free accounts of people who don't incur any.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
