Ebay's postage restrictions
hubb
Ok, Ebay in their ever growing over pampering of the buyer have decided to restrict the amount of postage we sellers can claim on a sale. I have 9 double VHS videos that weigh almost 5KG and will cost around £9.50 to post them all (I am selling as a lot). I am informed when trying to create the listing in Turbo Lister that the most I can charge for postage is £4.
Now what can I do to get the correct postage ?

Add it to your start price. Or if they are blank list them under wholesale and job lots. (though you may not get as many hits)0

You cannot charge more unless you opt for a courier and send them via a courier, you can't opt for courier and still use RM. If you want to use RM (a parcel would be £9.58) then add the extra postage costs to your start price.
I'd also make sure these have a sales value, very few VHS videos do anymore, so check completed listings and even take a look on Amazon at prices and sales ranking.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ebay had no choice, too many people listing things for 99p (for the free listing) and charging however much they wanted for the item as P+P.
Good job you didn't try to list them 6 months ago, you couldn't put anything as the P+P price then.
Also, contrary to popular belief, most buyers realise that they have to pay both for the item, and the postage cost. It's no difference to them if you charge £15 for the item with free P+P, or £11 for the item and £4 P+P. It's the same amount.
Just add £5.50 to your start price (and if you then say "but I'll have to pay to list it then" ... tough).Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

....and of course scheming Ebay gets lots more in listing fees by this policy. What is happening to the English Language? These are not isolated, but repeated every day.
'Definate', 'Aswell', 'Rediculous', 'Payed'...and the best of all 'Could Of'. How can anyone think that 'Could Of' can actually mean anything. You may as well write 'Could Zebra' for all the sense it makes.0
