Credit in IVA

Hello all.

My partner is currently in an IVA and we're going on holiday in October. Although I doubt he could get credit whilst in an IVA, would the company who look after his IVA find out if he did get a credit card?

I've told him it's not a good idea in the first place to do so and if it's going to jepordise his agreement then he definately won't go ahead with an application.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

  • i personally think its a bad idea as surely credit is the reason he is in the IVA. Also please correct me if im wrong, but if you take credit out whilst on a DMP or IVA it can be seen as fraud as you cant pay it back x

There is usually a clause in your agreement saying that you can't get any more credit. If you do you could jeopardise the whole IVA.
Don't do it. It's not worth the backlash. And yes, they would be able to find out if they checked your credit files.

Is it so he can pay for things abroad? Has he looked into a pre pay one?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Ahh, yeah a pre-pay is a good idea, thank you!

Yeah it's basically because his card is only for ATM's in UK and I don't want to use my card for everything.

Thanks for the advice guys. Ill get him to look into that straight away!
