New buying items and re-selling tips wanted?

Options
Hi there
In a bid to fight the need to have to go back to the drudge of a 9-5 I wanted to explore a new idea and need some advice from any kind folk?

I have a few ideas of products, items that i have seen recently that i've wanted to buy..some at obscure trade shows, some items for crafting, fashion items. Most of these items are on USA back water websites...ie they are nor readily available or known about here in the UK.

This being the case, I wanted to try and experiment in the 'buying and selling' field. I have good experience of ebay and boot sales from just selling home junk but I wanted to try and take it to the next level.

For example, I've identified a beauty product, seen a year ago at a craft fayre. They had a special show offer, but was still too expensive for me. I said to myself 'I wont buy it here, i'll get it of the internet'...but I can't. I can buy it for the same price (about £25 without P&P) as a one-of, but its got me thinking. Can I go direct to the maker of the item and buy say 100 or 200 units then sell them myself making a few pounds extra this way, either on ebay, boot sales etc?

I am coming up against a brick wall in finding the product, just finding gobbledegook 'trading' websites that seem to point to the Far East. I realise this may be a good way to go, by buying direct from abroad, but haven't a clue where to start and dont want to get ripped off. I just want to try and turn £200 into £500, then £500 into £1000 etc

Ive recently been inspired by a lady on a documentary selling flip flop style shoes for kids...she now makes £10,000 a month, from home, and its taken off so much that she now exports direct from China and seems to have a great little business.

Any tips, advice, warnings would be greatly appreciated! thanks
