When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D

Morning everyone, doesn't the sunshine make you feel positive???
    I have already:
    - Checked banks, Egg refunded £280 on my credit card so balance is the lowest it's been for a long time. Might aim to get rid of that one first, esp as the apr is going up to 29.9!
    - Hung washing on line, strange doing it when it's frosty but it's lovely and sunny outside
    - Put chicken curry in slow cooker for tonight, yum
    - Put Hetty round last night so no need to do today
    - Put dishes in to soak, kept falling asleep everywhere last night so didn't wash up and they've gone crusty...
    - Sell one purge, not too much pressure tho as I did 2 yesterday.
    - NSD, don't need anything!!!

    Have a happy Tuesday
    Jx
PS: MOTHER, GET YOUR BUM IN GEAR AND POST!
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    today
    check banks
    Move some money
Sort out Insurance for campervan - they've sent the renewal and the reminder!

Update blog and post it - DFW ish as it keeps me motivated
Post DVD from love film sale

    Take dog to the field
Keep on top of data entry
Tea from freezer - must investigate and make a meal plan as these things work and I keep forgetting to do one
Remind OH to book his ferry
Bodybalance class tonight - friend is driving :)
Might pop out to other house - not sure yet
Emailed both equifax and creditexpert to find out despite being on the electoral roll for my house here why its not showing on my report and to dispute a cc arrangment which says I've defaulted and I havent
Brekkie and a big cuppa before I go in
WIll try and sparkle a bit today - snow drops and daffy's are poking up in the garden
Make sure doggie has lots of attention today - he was home alone yesterday and it must be abit boring

Oh Triangle - do you have any recent pics of your puppy on FB? I've only seen the puppy ones - he's so cute! Goodluck on the training course today

Morning all - Milly thanks for starting the thread :) I hope everyone else has a lovely day

Morning everyone! No sun here I'm afraid :(

I was so exhausted after everything yesterday. As well as everything I put down (except the seeds :() I organised all my filing, months nd months of it. Cooked an apple crumble to use up apples, roasted some veg for lunches this week - pittas, roasted veg, nd home grown rocket mmmmm... Opened savings account for savings.

    Today I will:
    • Call waterboard and get monthly repayment reduced, was in debt from last house so was paying £20 extra each month due to end in Dec 09. But in Dec they only reduced it by £10  Manged to get monthly payment down to £20pm, but really had to be like a dog with a bone, she wasn't going to do it, tried fobbing me off nd telling me she could do anything for 24hrs, when I asked to speak to her manager she told me she didn't have one and no supervisor was avaible. In the end I asked her name, surname, office she was working in and if the call was being recorded. Spoke to a manager!
    • Chase woman at the beauty salon ;)
    • call halifax cc as when sorting out filing found out statement with £7 credit on it unfortunately no credit:(
    • do any surveys available
    • go to work 12-8 :(, hm lunch nd tea there, nd apple crumble
    • Go to comedy night after work with oh, bought tickets yesterday only £5. We joined the pubs website as it said if u did u got a voucher for a free drink, but voucher never arrived. When I bought the tickets I asked the landlord re this and he said he would sort out the voucer for me to collect today :T no hopefully nsd for me. arrgggh spent money...
    • Pay in the £2s/pennies counted up £46 since Jan! yah
    • Put potatoes out to "chit" - really must do this!!! chitting as I type
    • Try not to spend so much time on this forum or I'll never get it all done! done!
Also negotiated a better deal on phone/broadband. Must chase beauty salon woman will be my mantra tomorrow!!!

Josiebaby re egg putting up apr did u see in martins newsletter a few weeks ago you can refuse the increased rate as long as you don't take out any further debt on this card?

Have a great day everyone :)

  • Hi everyone and hope you're all having lovely days. Haven't been on over past days as opened an email that i thought was a link to a facebook message and it was a horrible virus -has taken DH the week to sort it out again, but luckily haven't lost our photos of LO which was biggest panic.

-washing at 30 and on line to dry
    -NSD
-make soup/stews and baby portions with leftover veggies

-do a house big clean up

-will try and see if i qualify for any surveys
    -walk with LO later on
-Baby in reusable nappies and mostly breastfed
    -catch up on here
-wait for my new phone to be delivered today- last one broke, but managed to negociate with O2 retentions dept a really good new deal, which i would never have done pre MSE
-sort out recycling and take to tip on way to pick up baby from settling in session at nursery (all going really well at nursery - hurray!)
-make most of last bit of being paid on leave before I start my new job next week

    Have great days all

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T
  • Hello all! I've decided to put a list up today as I'm being badgered and nagged by DD (Hi Jo )

    So far today I have:
    • run dishwasher on Cheap rate electricity (advantage of being an insomniac!)
    • hung washing outside in the sunshine
    • got a loaf of bread rising
    • checked internet banking
    • done three surveys
    I also need to:
    • make two batches of biscuits whilst oven is on for dinner
    • get down to the allotment to plant my garlic, which is going mad in the coldframe, and also onions and shallots.
    • get into the sewing room for at least a couple of hours
    • phone for a physio appointment to get this frozen shoulder sorted for once and for all
I got my estimated electricity bill yesterday and was £231 in credit. Did a meter reading hoping to reduce my payments and submitted it on line and now have a debit balance of £142.

That's enough of a list for today - now I'll have to see how much I achieve.
