Finding the perfect dress when you have body issues :(

Options
Hi guys,

Wedding is a long way away (Nov 11) and I know its not essential to have a dress like now BUT I can't stop thinking about what I'm goona do in regards to a dress lol

I stress easy ............ I know

I have been married before and my dress was big and bushy and size 24 since then I lost a mega amount of weight and I am now a size 12
I had a tummy tuck last year and I have a flat tummy I also have hips and generally I'm happy with the silouhette of my body.

The bit of me I hate with a capital H is my upper arms ........ no amount of working out fixes them and I wouldn't consider surgery to remove the skin because of the scarring I would be worse about that than I am about the skin !!

I really like the look of a fishtail style dress its highly likely i will drop to size 10 - 12 in the run up and I think for my body it would look a good style either that or a floaty number ankle length but i'm finding it difficult to describe :o

The trouble is I can't visualise wearing some kind of shrug with either of these styles and havent seen anything like it in my online search so far. So I guess I'm asking what do you do about it anyone else seen anything like what I describe :o I know it was a broad description

I also have rather big boobs that measure in at 34E would I need a bigger dress to accomodate or are they good at accomodating boobs that size.
Last time I just wanted something that fitted but this time I want something I love :j:j:j

Any help appreciated
xx

First of all BIG HUGS .
I sympathise with how you feel, I think it would suprise you how many woman have body issues.

Im very slim and tall but I take a 32e, and have very rounded shoulders from years of stooping. So Im not wanting anything to show my shoulders or make me look to large in the chest. The thought of a strapless dress sends shivers down me ! Im not very keen on the ides of a shrug.
Although I do like the furry ones and since your getting married in november you could get away with that.

I seen this dress which I love the design of and will emphasis my good bits. I have came across a few on One wedding that have small sleeves that dont look mumsy.
On this site they have a few dresses with sleeves, jackets which might give you some ideas.
This is a jacket one and this is a lace bolero, which is tight at hips.
Or are you having a veil as a long veil will hide your arms well too.
I also came across this fur type jacket- they have some more varations on the sight.

Try not to stress too much and I hope you find something, let us know.
  • Thanks guys they are lovely :)

Sammie I forgot to post originally that lace wasn't really my thing BUT that first link you posted was really nice and I may have to reconsider :)

Cat I've seen your dress that you want I think its absolutely stunning :) would also suit my shape I think but out of price range unfortunately :( the jacket you posted is very close to what I had in mind its lovely

I'm not having a veil its not really me lol I'm a complete nightmare

I did go into a dress shop last week with one of my bridesmaids I thought the woman was gonna laugh in my face she told me to come back in a year ........ I think I won't be !!

    Thanks again xx

Im afraid my dress is out my price league too !
Im not keen on veils either - bit like grannies net curtains on me -just throwing ideas around.:)

Just lie about your wedding date when your trying dresses on -I still havent tried a wedding dress on and im dreading going into a shop !
Well one on losing all your weight, and try to feel proud of your new shape- I know its hard but I bet you will look great on the day.

The good things is with more time you will be able to get something in the sales .

being november you almost definately want some kind of cover up, so its just finding the right one that you can wear that goes with your dress. this is where i got mine from, they are very beautiful, but again depends on what dress you go for

ooh, thats perfect! I have the same issues with my upper arms and am stressing about the 1st dance photos - (though my photographer is a wizz at editing them) so I was on the look out for something along the lines of a shrug but not as 'committed' or 'heavy' - this website seems perfect!

    Thanks!

I am the 'other' way, and very skinny but have similar issues with my flat chest, skinny arms and 'sticky out' collar bones. I have a strapless dress but am having a jacket made to go over the top, based on this
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

Firstly, a big well done on loosing so much weight :j

Secondly, Yay another November 11 bride! I didn't think there was anyone else but me on here. Its not that long away if you think about all the stuff you've got to organzise!

You could try going to a bridal shop (if you feel comfortable enough) and try some dresses with shrugs on and you might be find the last thing you wanted to wear looks amazing on.
    good luck!
