It's just us and our parents. I suppose they'll chauffeur us and we'd like to have a picnic after.

No dress required! Strictly no dressing up!!

Well done, I don't know where these wedding mags get their 20k average spend from!

Would you not want to get a new outfit though?
  • OOH sounds lovely and a romantic picnic afterwards. Good for you.
I am pleased to give hairdressing help or advice, but a thank you doesn't go a miss.

    No new outfit, why bother?

Wow well done! What bugs me is how the fee for a registry office wedding is under £50 yet to have the registrar travel out to other premises is soooooo expensive. For us it'll be £345 and that doesn't include the hire of the place, thats just the fee for 2 registrars to come out and probably spend less than an hour of their time. I'm in the wrong job!!

Hahaha I wish we got paid the fee that it actually charged! No chance, just our usual lowly wage. The fees are set by the local council and GRO (general register office) and the higher price for a register to come out covers the extra time away from the office (on average an hour and a half at the venue and travel time there and back to the Register office) So in that time we could perform 4 weddings instead of just one! Plus there is 2 registrars not just one that could be doing other registrations in t hat extra time!

The fee for the reg office here, on a Saturday, is £117.50, but for them to come to a venue and marry you, it's £350ish.

The fees to give notice have just gone up, from £30 each, to £33.50 each, but the fee on the day hasn't changed.
