plan is to go back part time from full time.
what are the rules to this on number of days, actual prefered days and time?
contact has been made with line manager, however when asked for HR details to enable to discuss a few private matters, they said no one in HR can help and to ask direct questions through line manager and main manager. can this be right for a large ftse company?

The business agreed to keep the same job and same hours open for you, so now you are changing your contract any negotiation has to be agreed with the Business (not HR, who will just rubber stamp it). Your preferred days/hours will need to meet the requirements of the business, and of course they do not need to even agree to you coming back part time. You are entitled to ask for flexible working arrangements, but again the business does not have to grant them.Life is too short to drink bad wine!0

thanks.
as fair as that sounds, what has been agreed is the days but not hours. wanting to flex the times over the days.
understand it's business decision, but how come the hours flexed has been declined, as others just gone back manage to do what they want, which isn't fair.0 -

There could be a business reason, have you asked why it got declined?Always ask ACAS0 -

Are you in the same or similar role/department as others that have been allowed to flex their hours? And working the same number of hours/days?
Maybe the business is finding the people who have been flexing their hours aren't as effective and they are going to stop letting people flex their hours to improve staff performance. They don't have to treat all employees exactly the same though if they can justify the differences are for business reasons.0 -

yes and yes.
don't really want to push it further being a pain etc. so will see where it goes.
no real business reason apart from apparently senior managers steering towards set hours for part time0 -

If that is a standard across the board then that is a valid business reasonAlways ask ACAS0
