I have 2 legs of legs that I bought from Aldi when on offer....
What's the best way to defrost them and how long will it take?
Thanks,:):)

leave the leg sitting in a cool spot and allow to defrost naturally - time it needs will depend on size of joint. If its a full leg then microwave defrost not a good idea as narrow end will defrost and start cooking before the heavy end and the whole thing will be spoiled.
If you were planning on cooking for dinner today I would do some sausage and mash instead!!John0 -
the best way i always use with all my frozen joints, is to take them out of the freezer the morning proir to the day there needed( sat. for a sun. etc.) put them in a dish in the bottom of the fridge to defrost there.
then about a hour before you put them in the oven get them out of the fridge, this relaxes the meat, making it more tender.
also defrosting in the frigde cools it(the fridge) down so it uses less electricity saving costs.:j0 -
Leg of lamb must be my favourite roast
I do usually defrost frozen meats in the fridge, but have found that a big cut like a leg of lamb takes a very long time to defrost. After 24h in the fridge, the leg will still be largely frozen, and as I am terrible at planning ahead for more than that, I generally end up defrosting it in the kitchen. Even then, I find that after a night it is not completely defrosted. Other people may have different experiences, but regardless, do make sure you take it out of the freezer at least 24h before you intend to cook it!0
