Statute barred question

I have just downloaded the statute barred letter from the national debtline, all ready to send off to the creditors that have been chasing me for the last ten years or so but one bit of the letter bothers me.
'I would also like to point out that the OFT say under their Debt Collection Guidance on statute barred debt that it is unfair to pursue the debt if the debtor has heard nothing from the creditor during the relevant limitation period'
I have had letters periodically from these creditors, infact I have had one today from Wescot for a credit card debt from 1999 probalby last paid around 2001/2. That is the 3rd letter since Feb this year so does statute barred still stand for me please?
Thanks

Yes
It is only letters from you to them that count as acknowledgement, so depsite that wording you should still send that letter.
(unless any of the letters they sent you were to say they had obtained a CCJ that is).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thank you for that, the letter does make it a bit confusing so I think I will just leave that bit out.
