Token payment offer.....question?

Hi,
We are currently dealing with CCCS debt management. We sent all our letters out explaining our situation with copies of our income and expenditure and an offer of £1 a month token payments as advised by CCCS.
We have had two creditors accept the £1 payments with no arguements and are waiting for a response from the rest. However, my partner had his response from aqua credit card saying they could not accept the £1 as their policy arrangements should not be less than £5.
Can they do this? I know £5 isn't alot but I was under the impression that by law the minimum you can pay per month was £1. If this is true then surely they are breaking the law by setting their minimum payment as £5?
They are also asking for his last three wage slips.......What do they want those for?
Just wondering
Thanks Sarah

I'm not sure about the law thing
If you are paying them £1 a month, and that is all you can afford,
thats thier problem if they won't accept it
its a case of like it or lump it;), thats all they are getting:D
If Aqua start phoneing you all you have to do is give them your CCCS ref number, and hang up
don't get into discussions with them
and theresa few templete letters on here to send

Hi
There is no law that they have to accept £1 payments. There are guidelines that they should be following to accept what you can afford.
Make sure you keep paying the £1 payments whatever. That way should they decide to take you to court for the debt you can show that you were willing to pay. Which should mean that a judge is more likely to allow you to pay any CCJ in installments.
(They might not take you to court of course, a lot will settle down and let you pay the amount you have offered after a couple of months).
You could write back to re-iterate that £1 is all you can afford, but that if your circumstances improve you will increase your offer.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Keep paying the pound a month. Even if they don't like it - they'll accept - they wont send it back!
I had creditors that never agreed to it, but that was all i could afford.
You are not allowed to favour one creditor over another.
So 1 pound is all they can all get.0 -
Thankyou very much, I will pay the pound and wait and see what happens0
