    You may have a local LETS scheme that may be able to help you complete the work in exchange for tokens that you would have to earn by providing a service to someone else on the scheme. Sorry to be so vague but it's along time since I looked at out local LETS website. If you google LETSlink +uk you will probably find their main website.

    Hi, We bought wardrobes from Wickes a while ago. They rotate the offers on all the different designs so we waited till the one we wanted was on offer.

    I was also going to suggest LETS, or a buddy system. If you've got friends who are better at DIY than you are, would they be willing to give you a hand with any jobs, with you acting as 'builder's mate'? Then maybe you could help them out with something - babysitting, gardening, any other skills you've got?
