Problem with my peppers?

Options
I have grown bell peppers for a few years now. This years are coming through nicely but they are all BLACK!

Anyone got any ideas as to why this may be? They seem to be perfectly fine, not sure thatI'd eat them though!

It sometimes happens, usually about once every 6 seasons, depending on the weather and the soil. There is nothing wrong with them, just a slight genetic defect on the pigmentation. They may not be as sweet as usual but other that are fine.
And if, you know, your history...

I feel mildly guilty because that was totally made up. But hey, it's probably true. If there's nothing on google you could have discovered a rare breed of pepper...get on to tichmarsh! Are you sure you didnt plant aubergines? Sorry again.

There is a kind of dark purple/ black pepper variety. If you google around the online seed selling sites you'll probably find some. Possibly there was a mix up with the bag filling and you got the wrong ones.
My multi coloured chard were like this. I got all rhubarb chard instead.
