Petrol Prices

Local garage (a national branded one, not a one man set up) has petrol at £1.19.9 a litre today and diesel is a penny dearer. Local supermarket petrol is £1.11.9.
Any idea if the prices are due to come down anytime soon?
We only have a 1.6 litre engine but it's costing us more than £40 a week now. Sooo glad we chose not to get a 2 litre engine due to running costs.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Gordo is slaying the motorist so he can keep his spending going. Fuel duty rises on 1st April again by 2.5p per litre.
Quite how this is helping hard working familes is beyond me. Perhaps he should refine his message to helping non-working car less families.0 -
It's getting to the point where we're having to stop and think if we REALLY need to make the journey or not.Illegitimi non carborundum.0

Well that's good isn't it? Less traffic, less pollution, maybe higher usage of public transport - sounds good to me.
You can live without driving - I don't drive, so can assure you it is entirely possible.
And I live in a village. In a city it's even easier.0 -
I live in a village too and we really do need our car for me to get to work and if we need to go to the main shops. I do tend to get supermarket deliveries 1-2 times a month though so may have to up it to every week. Would also save on buying other tat in the local town though I suppose.Well that's good isn't it? eta: Plus our nearest family is 120 miles away so we need the car to visit family and friends. We used to go to the inlaws around once a month. Now it's more like every 2-3 months. That's no bad thing though

Petrol aint ever going to get cheaper I'm afraid!.....0

There is little chance of it falling by much I'm afraid.
The price did not really move by much when the price of crude collapsed and it seems that the price of crude is likely to stay in the $70-$100 per barrel range. And tax rises will push costs higher.0 -

Don't forget our depreciating currency which is not helping either."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

How on earth does someone get to be your age and not know how to drive?
On a different note, in our first house, we had two choices for getting to work.
Walk a mile, wait for the bus, take it 6 miles in the wrong direction, wait 30 minutes for a train, then take it 45 miles in the right direction, then take two buses for 30 minutes plus, then walk a further 5 minutes.
Total time to get to work, 2 hours 20 minutes. Cost, around £15 each way.
OR
Jump in the car, drive 37 miles, park, walk into office.
Total time door to door, around 35 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Maybe 50 minutes in rush hour. Cost, around £4 each way.
Public transport is ridiculously impractical for much of the country.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
