Intrum Justicia again!

I am so angry with Intrum Justicia. Who are they?? I assumed they were a DCA used by Natwest and that they were who I was dealing with .. but the bloke who has just phoned me introduced himself as from Natwest then when i told him i have a payment agreement with intrum justicia, he told me that he was intrum justicia (all very confusing to start with)

Anyway, they have been trying to phone me all weekend, yet when i have answered there has been nobody on the other end! (or maybe they didn't speak fast enough!).

A few months back I agreed with them in writing that i would pay £5 per month off the debt until I became employed etc etc, and that i once I was employed (I stated I would contact them within 4 months to update on my situation) i would contact them with the intention of increasing payments. This worked perfect for 2 months and I have paid the agreed £5 each time. Trouble is, they have decided that they want more money now or they will add £200 of fees and charges to my outstanding balance. Instead of £5 per month they 'can only accept a minimum of £20'

Again, i have explained my situation and the man on the phone seemed quite understanding of the fact that i cannot pay any more than I already do until I start work and that i obviously want to clear this debt. He told me again of the default on the account (which I am well aware of) then seemed to get confused as to what he could do as i couldn't pay anymore off the debt at this moment in time. He simply ended the call telling me I had 48hours grace to try and 'find' £5 per month and if I couldn't 'find' it then there was nothing he could do .. I assume this means that the £200 charges (whatever they are for) will be added on because I cannot pay any more than I am already.

I am so angry, can they do this, even though I have kept up my repayments to date and have a written agreement that this is the amount to be paid for 4 months rather than 2?

speak to CCCS or payplan and get them off your back. you will be able to claim back these charges....have a look at consumer action group website for more info. I've not dealt with this company specifically but all the DMC's can be get nasty but don't worry about them. if they don't get what they want from you the debt will most likely be sold onto another company.

When I was caught in IJ 's web, I found them to be OK, but not the best of the gang! Eventually you will get someone who has the authority to accept your offer but it may take a while. They probably won't sell on to anyone else.

The telephone thing is a dialler....it automatically rings about half a dozen people on its list, then the first person to answer gets put through to a member of staff, and so on. It doesn't know if there are as many staff as calls being made, so often you get an "empty" call.
