Empire Stores - Not taking voucher off?

Hi i bought a few things with Empire last week and used my CC to pay for it. At the checkout it said the total minus the voucher

£30 off a £60 spend

Now i have checked my bank account and they have taken the full amount, has this happend to anyone else?

Surley they cannot take the full amount as i have only let them take what i paid?

Thanks

They shouldn't be able to, as you've only authorised them to take a specific amount, but a lot of companies will. You'll either have to return the items if you do not wish to pay full price or contact their customer services and explain the situation. Sometimes they will apply the code and give you the discount.

I'm not sure but I think they take the full amount and then credit it back- if that makes sense. I know a lot of companies do.

Well lxdirect do that i know and they credit the same day. But checking the totals again one was taken off £10 no min spend and the £15 off £30 was not. So think gonna give them a ring to see whats the score.

    Thanks anyway

They just did this to me on two orders - showed a price including the -£15 off discount and then charged my account the full amount.

I took my screen shots into my Natwest branch and they are raising a chargeback on my Debit card (which should also cost LXDirect a chargeback fee)

As the order screen tells you that they check the codes 'at the delivery options page' I cant see they have a leg to stand on. And even if the codes are invalid - it doesnt mean that they can just charge you more than you authorised payment for.

Can you please explain to me what does "raising a chargeback on a debit card" mean and involve? That sounds very interesting and I know this has happened to lots of people, so best to know what to do in this case...
    Thankyou xx

I placed an order with Empire a couple of days ago using a £15 off £30 code to be paid from my account with them.

The confirmation page and the e-mail they sent me both said "This total does not include the effect of any order code - this will be processed later".

Doesn't sound very promising to me, previous discounts have always been processed before so I'm thinking they won't honour it.

Just have to send it all back then...
