Well done Tiff especially as you bought clothes in with that amount.
Do you only count clothes if you buy them from a supermarket though? The only non-food items I've included in our budgeted amount are a Saturday paper, the odd bunch of reduced flowers and birthday cards-if i haven't been organised enough to get them form our local market stall-much cheaper!
Oh and the odd bottle of wine or 4 pack of beer!
certainly not clothes etc which would come out of a seperate budget-my "me" money.
See you on the March thread-btw did you sign up for Cash for a Month?0 -
No Jane, I completely forgot all about it
I dont usually include clothes in the shopping budget but if the shop comes within my weekly budget then I just include the clothes as part of that. I only usually get the kids underwear, socks and school uniform from Tesco anyway, all cheap items.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Oh my goodness, I'm going to have to have a close look at this thread.
On average I spend £120 a week at Tesco! not forgetting the fruit and veg in my local shop.
We don't smoke,(or drive btw) only buy sale clothes when needed and use as many vouchers as possible (around £20 a week so it knocks bill down to around £100 a week in Tesco).
There are 2 adults, 3 children and 2 cats in the family. All credit cards paid off.

Just discovered this site
Really useful reading - in relation to growing your own - we have an allotment and can't beat freshly dug up veg. The cheapest seeds by far that we have have found are at Netto - 19p per packet for both the flowers and the veg - compare this to a usual garden centre price of £1+ then a real saving to be had.

We spend around £10 every other day (during the week - so thats nearly £25 in working week) and about £25 every weekend...
25*4 + 25 * 4 = £200
Add the baby shopping + clothes!!
Oops lot of work to be done..
One of the major spend is on Olive Oil (we cook using that) - anyone help us with where I can find good & cheap olive oil. Normally I look out for offers in Somerfield (last month Philipo Berio was buy 1 get 1 free), waitrose if not in offer then go for ASDA or TESCO oils.
Any suggestions welcome...0 -
Lidls do a large bottle for £1.99. I used to cook with olive oil a lot but now use vegetable oil which is so much cheaper and use olive oil in salads, dips etc.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

You could also try cutting down on how much oil you use overall.. you can soften onions in a little water or stock, for example..0 -
The Lidl olive oil is fantastic, it's as good as anything I have used (even the particularly posh stuff I brought home from the Good Food Show). At £1.99 for a large bottle it really can't be beaten.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
