    Xmas Saver!
With Ing u have different account numbers, but can have quite a few I have 4 thou only one gets money, great as you can name the accounts, you can transfer between them and also log them to your main bank account, I logged the main to my bank account and just did internal transfers as and when.

I just my main one for £10 per month, and come July, have my AA membership paid.... could do with more money, but thats one day...........over the rainbow...xx

I have 9 ING accounts and can move money my 'main' account and either one of them. I have DD's set up into each one every month for birthdays, pet expenses, christmas etc.

I find it works really well for me and the transfers work well.

I run M-soft money package and and have corresponding accounts and make sure I keep them all updated so that I know how much in each pot at any one time without logging into the account

We have a Lloyds joint account, sole Lloyds accounts and lots of savings accounts. You can name all of the savings accounts online and see them all with their names

I'm with Barclays too and use online banking. I've got my usual current account plus 4 other pots - you just open them as e-savings accounts with a pound and then you can re-name them whatever you like....Debt busting fund, Christmas, Savings etc etc. You also earn interest on them (if you don't make withdrawals obviously) but the benefit of having them in the same 'place' as my current account means that if I need money urgently (eg for unexpected car repairs as happened last week) I can transfer the money and it clears immediately.
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T

The Principality account lets you have all your pots in one account, you can have as many as you like (I've got 4 at the moment), so when you go in to the account you see your whole balance (in my case 2/6d) and then underneath there are all my wee pots, you give them a name and you can also give them a target and there is a wee thing that tells you what percentage of your target you have achieved. great

thank you all for your replies to my question i already have 5 diff esaving accounts with natwest but really wanted one account se i could easily see how much i had altogether but then easily see it all separated and amounts for each savings item which pure dead dopeys seems to allow

one more question for dopey sorry to be a pain but do they do faster payments? more inmportant if for some reason i needed the money back out quickly

    thank you all again
  • ooh don't know about that as I've only just managed to put a wee drop in, not had to take any out yet, could it be on their website?

Ok - following PDD's recommendation I have opened a Principality e-Saver account - so that I can manage my savings in 'pots'

I was also keen to find out whether they either accepted and/or sent Faster Payments. A bit of research on MSE and the net generally shows that they definitely accept them - Click here & type in the sort code and it confirms Faster Payments can be sent to this sort code

I've found it more difficult to find out whether they actually SEND Faster Payments or not. I did find this link - which to me indicates they do not - but as the sort code is part of the Barclays group I thought that perhaps they might. However, a bit more digging and I found a very useful post on MSE which, again, seems to confirm that Principality does not send Faster Payments. The original date of the quoted post is June 2008, but it has been regularly updated, with the last update being made end Jan 2010

It's been suggested that a list of which banks and building societies can send and/or receive faster payments would be a useful resource. I thought I'd start a new thread with this and keep the first post updated with the latest comments (in the same way that the Regular Saver thread works).

These are only listed where it's actually been tested, not just announced by the bank -

Able to SEND (up to £10K immediate payment)
    - HSBC (including First Direct)
    - RBS (including NatWest*)
    - Barclays (amounts initially limited, now increased)*
    - Lloyds (was available online, then withdrawn, currently sometimes available by telephone and more recently online again, though experiences are varied. Latest report is maximum transaction size £1K and daily limit £10K.)
    - Tesco*
    - Halifax (but not always and amount limited) (part of Lloyds Banking Group)
    - Co-operative (including Smile) (initial low limit trial now increasing)
    * Those above marked with an asterisk will send faster payments outside banking hours e.g. during a weekend.

    Able to receive
    - HSBC (including First Direct)
    - RBS (including NatWest)
    - Abbey
    - Barclays
    - Birmingham Midshires (part of Lloyds Banking Group)
    - Co-operative (including Smile)
    - Coventry BS
    - Egg
    - Halifax (part of Lloyds Banking Group)
    - ING
    - Lloyds Banking Group
    - Nationwide sort code 07-02-46 only (not the one with most users)
    - Tesco
    - Northern Rock (but can't pay funds out for 2 days, see post 69)
    - Leeds Building Society (doesn't show online until next day)
    - Newcastle BS (doesn't show online until next day, though with previous day's date)
    - Market Harborough BS (doesn't show online until next day, though with previous day's date)
    - Principality BS (doesn't show online until after midday next day)
    - Saffron BS (but doesn't show online until next day, though with previous day's date)
    - Yorkshire BS (including Barnsley BS) (doesn't show online until next day, though with previous day's date)
    - Alliance & Leicester (certain sort codes only)
    - Derbyshire BS (part of Nationwide BS) There are now reports that they are able to receive, though may be starting with smaller limits.

The APACS sort code checker will help to identify bank sort codes which can receive: http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/sort_code_checker/

Rather than tie yourself into a provider that might offer what you want, but not the best interest rate, you could consider doing what I do..

Chase the very best interest rate...and just sort your 'pots' out in a spreadsheet.
