Help with my nans catalouge account

My nan has had an account with jd williams for many years now and currently owes them £1982.65, the problem is that technically the account was my mums as she was the one using it and paying for it and it was simply in my nans name. My mum got into some trouble and has gone to prison now for the next couple of years and left my nan with this huge bill that she can't afford seeing she's only a pensioner, and to be honest even though it is in her name i don't believe she should have to pay it seeing she didn't buy anything.

They currently want £207.64 for this months payment and i've looked at the account and the interest charge is 2.62% so there adding about an extra £50 a month on. I'm going to ring jd williams on moday for her to see what i can do but i wanted to know what i can actually ask for seeing i don't have a clue about these things. Is it possible to ask them to close the account so the interest stops and try to pay so much a month off the balance? I can afford about £50 a month so i don't mind paying that so my nan doesn't have to if they accept it. I'm guessing to that doing that will effect my nans credit rating aswell which she doesn't mind seeing she doesn't have anything on credit and i doubt ever will so she doen't mind.

Just any advice would be much appreciated because as i said i don't know much about this stuff and would prefer to have a little knowledge before i ring.
