Hi everyone, I have a dilema I am currently unemployed and am signing on for jobseekers allowance. I do not receive any money for this as |I have a small income from letting out the family home and have moved in with my daughter. The reason I sign on is to prove to Barclaycard Insurance that I am still unemployed and therefore entitled to the payments they make on my credit card. I have now been offered a temporary job abroad for one month (relieving a manager who is going on holiday). I would really like to go as the money is desperately needed (1 month behind in mortgage at the mo) my worry is that if I "sign off" now and then "sign on" again will I will have a problem with the insurance company and they will stop paying? I have to let the job know by monday.......

My husband has a similar policy to cover the mortgage. Its terms stated that if temporary employment was held, then the benefit paid out in a month would be reduced by 1/31ths for every day worked. So, in effect, the insurance claim would still be ongoing for the month but would be reduced by 31/31ths if he worked for a full month. The next month it would revert to being paid in full.
Perhaps your terms and conditions might detail a similar policy. Or, if you don't have the t & c now, why not give them a ring and ask a 'hypothetical' question about it?0
