Unpaid debts

Hi i have unpaid debts of around £11,000 from a loan credit card and 2 bank over dafts. I got in to trouble when my marriage broke down and got left with a £7,000 loan to pay off. I was living on my own and just could not make ends meet. I was living on the credit card trying to pay everything but it just got to much. So i stopped paying them and have not paid a penny since. And went off the radar so to speak and have been now for about 4 years. Ive moved a couple of times and have not heard from the old bank or credit card companys for about 4 years. I do work and could start paying something but just would not know where to start or if this is trhe right line of action to take. You hear alot now days about credit becoming statute barred. after 6 years so should i just wait untill then?????

Debt does become statute barred after 6 years if you have neither paid anythig towards the debt or acknowledged it in writing, unless they have got a CCJ against you.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
