I've found that some lenders mind if you're in a probation period so long as its a permenant job, and some don't, your mortgage advisor should be able to tell you who does and who doesn't, and if you ring lenders they'll also tell you.

The ones I know off the top of my head are -
Nationwide, Accord, Britannia, YBS, Halifax don't mind
    Nottinghamshire BS, Abbey do mind

I don't know how this will affect how much you can borrow as you have to give them 3 months pay slips.

I've found if you ring and speak to the mortgage team of the lender you're looking at they're more than happy to answer your questions.

Just to add to what has already been said:

FD dont entertain you if you are in a probation period, but Ing Direct do.

Nationwide only asked for 1 x payslip from me and I am only 3 months into a 6 month probation period.

Sorry to jump on your thread smcqis but does anyone know NatWest's position? We are in a similar situation only we have had the mortgage offer through and are now close to exchange but, because the offer expires before completion date, we need to extend it - and that's when the fact that I changed jobs since mortage offer was made came up.

The MA knew I was changing jobs and I am almost finished the probationary period. Also, it's in the same industry but with a pay increase - I've heard that counts?

Would you say if my MA says it won't be a problem, can I be more relaxed? NatWest have already asked for a payslip and then asked for a copy of my contract to be scanned through - should hear by Tuesday but my wee nerves are quite rattled! :o

Good luck smcqis for your application! :j

Natwest wont lend if you are in prob. x

We approached them. My partner had just changed jobs and stayed in same field of work. But wouldn't even consider us!
