Can we get a mortgage???? please help

Can anyone give me any advise. Me and my partner will be trying to apply for a mortgage early next year. Although he is unaware of this as im scared to tell him becuase he is so good with money, in the past i have struggles with my finances and have a bad credit rating, i havent had any defaults in the last year but i understand they stay on your credit file for 6 years. My partner has an excellent credit rating will we be able to get a mortgage?

Any advice or help appreciated!:)

Get your credit reports and see how bad they are - read this article: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score

Speak with a mortgage broker - see their view.

Most importantly (and what you will least want to hear) - talk to your boyf about it. You don't really want to be keeping things like this secret when you are committing to something like buying a house together.

I think you'll struggle with that amount of deposit.
  • :-/ what do u think the issue would be the deposit or my credit rating or becuase of my credit rating we will need a larger deposit?

What was the reason for the credit score, which isn't as bad as you think, it can only be very poor at worst.

If it's missed payments which you then paid just continue to pay as you are and these will fade away and become less important.
